Lehman College Continuing Education

Contract-Based Programs

Industry Certificates

  • Home Health Aide (HHA) - The program trains the lowest level of healthcare workers using the curriculum of Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI). Upon successful completion of the program, the participants earn the New York State HHA certification.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - The program trains people to work in hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and home health agencies. Upon completion of the required didactic and clinical hours and passing of the New York State credentialing exam, the participants earn the CNA certification.
  • Patient Care/Nurse Technician (PCT) - The program adds a higher credential to the CNA licensure. The participants are trained to work as EKG and Phlebotomy Technicians and earn a license from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - The program prepares the participants for administrative and clinical duties in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. Successful completion of the program and passing of the credentialing exam lead to the NHA certification.
  • Cisco Certified Networking - This program is the first level of Cisco’s career certification. Its CCNA Routing and Switching curriculum prepares students for entry-level information and communications Technology jobs. Students are prepared to take the Cisco CCENT and CCNA Certification examination after completing the program.
  • Pharmacy Technician - This program combines classroom instruction with practical experience through externships in both institutional and retail settings. Our program prepares students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) credentialing exam.

Academic Pre-Requisite Programs

  • Colloquium Series- The program provides three contextualized courses (9 credits) in English and Math, for non-degree students who are bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Health Care Careers (HC4) - The program offers maximum 35.5 credits in science and general education courses to matriculated students who intend to pursue a major in healthcare. Upon finishing HC4, students either move to the mainstream of the college through the Adult Degree Program at Lehman College, or they transfer to other CUNY Institutions to pursue their educational goals.

Degree Completion Programs

  • RN-BS - This is a bachelor’s degree program offered by the Department of Nursing. It is designed for transfer students who have an associate degree in Nursing and a Registered Nurse license. While in the program, the students earn 60 credits in Nursing and Liberal Arts to complete the requirements for a Bachelor’s of Science degree.
  • MD-RN - This is a bachelor’s degree program for medical doctors educated outside the United States. The students follow the generic nursing track in the accelerated format and take the NCLEX exam upon completion of the program.
  • MD-FNP - This is master’s degree program offered to medical doctors educated outside the United States who completed the MD-RN program and earned a Registered Nurse license. The students follow Family Nurse Practitioner track.
  • MSN - This is a master’s degree in Nursing offered in two tracks by the Department of Nursing.
