Pre-Requisite Courses for the Generic Nursing Program (Traditional and Accelerated Tracks)
Biology Sequence*:
- BIO 181: Anatomy and Physiology I (5 hours [3, lecture; 2, lab], 4 credits)
- BIO 182: Anatomy and Physiology II (5 hours [3, lecture; 2, lab], 4 credits)
- BIO 230: Microbiology (6 hours [2, lecture; 4, lab] 4 credits)
Chemistry Sequence*:
- CHE 114: Essentials of General Chemistry – Lecture (3 hours, 3 credits)
- CHE 115: Essentials of General Chemistry – Laboratory (3 hours, 1.5 credits)
- CHE 120: Essentials of Organic Chemistry – Lecture (3 hours, 3 credits)
CHE 121: Essentials of Organic Chemistry – Laboratory (3 hours, 1.5 credits)
Foundation Course (Prior to Admission):
- HIN 268: Human Growth and Development (3 hours, 3 credits) Needed for entry to Nursing Program
Foundation Course (Prior to or After Admission):**
- HIN 269: Analysis and Action for Community Health (3 hours, 3 credits)
Nursing Admission Grade Requirements
*A minimum grade of C (73) or better is required in each of the pre-requisite science courses, and a minimum cumulative index of 2.75 or greater in these courses, or their equivalents, is required to apply for admission to the generic program.
Please note: Although courses can be repeated in accordance with college policy, for consideration in determining admission to the Nursing Program, the first grade earned will be used to determine eligibility.
**Either HIN 268 or 269 can be repeated once, but students MUST earn at least a “B” in the repeated course. If either course is repeated, no HIN or NUR course can be repeated thereafter.
