Why study abroad?

Studying abroad will enhance your academic journey and help you work towards your professional goals! Through study abroad programs you will gain credits, learn valuable life skills, and become a global citizen!  By studying abroad you can also complete important requirements for your major, minor, and general education requirements.

Who can study abroad?

Most undergraduate and graduate students can study abroad.  You can begin applying to programs as early as your Freshman Year!

Do I have to speak a foreign language?

No! The majority of our study abroad programs offer courses taught in English abroad. If you are interested in learning a foreign language there also many programs available where you can study a language from the beginner to the advanced level.   

Can I afford to study abroad?

Yes you can! Although program costs vary depending on country of study and length, there are many affordable programs. You must begin planning early. Scholarships and financial aid are available! 

Is there a G.P.A requirement?

To study abroad you must be in good academic standing. Most study abroad programs require a 2.5 G.P.A but exceptions can be made.

How long do students study abroad?

Students can study abroad on long-term programs or short-term programs.

Long-term programs: Can consist of exchange programs where students can study for a semester or a full academic year through our partner universities abroad.

Short Term Programs: Students can study abroad during the winter and summer through short-­term programs. Program lengths vary between 2-­‐8 weeks. There are some 1-­‐week programs available as well!

When should I apply for a study abroad program?

If you are interested in studying abroad for the winter or spring session, most program applications will be due in October. For those interested in studying abroad for the summer and fall semester, most applications will be due in April.

It is vital that you stop by the International Programs & Community Engagement Office as soon as possible to begin planning for and working on your study abroad applications. We recommend students plan for their study abroad at least one year in advance to applying.

How much does it cost to study abroad?

The costs of studying abroad will vary from program to program and will usually depend on the length of the program itself. We will work with you to find the best fit for a study abroad program and will always consider costs and your budget when helping you select a program.
