Basic Needs Center Services

What are Basic Needs? At its core, we define basic needs as the essential resources that impact one’s health, sense of belonging, persistence, and overall well-being.

This includes:
  • Food Security
  • Stable Housing
  • Financial Sustainability
  • Transportation
  • Quality Healthcare
  • Mental Health & Wellness
Through the Basic Needs Center (BNC) students will be connected to health, wellness, and other student support resources on- and off-campus.

Services coordinated through the BNC:

CUNY Citizenship Now at Lehman College

Referrals are also made to these on-campus programs affiliated with the Division of Student Affairs:

CUNY CARES The Basic Needs Center also works closely with CUNY CARES to increase access to essential needs for students by connecting them with on and off-campus public benefits for housing (e.g., eviction prevention); food (e.g., SNAP), financial assistance, health insurance and career development.
