The Dosage Calculation Examination (DCE) is the final phase of our rigorous generic nursing admission process. This exam is necessary for applicants to demonstrate their proficiency in dosage calculations, a fundamental skill for the nursing practice. The following outlines the process:

  • Invitation Only: Potential nursing students, who have met the qualifications of the first phase of the admission process, will then be eligible to take the Dosage Calculation examination. Notifications for the exam are emailed to potential students after the March 15th generic nursing application deadline.

  • Preparing for the Dosage Calculation Exam: To assist applicants in preparing for the dosage calculation examination, which is a critical component of the nursing admission process, an online Self-Learning Module as well as a 3-day workshop is provided. The dosage calculation content is reviewed in preparation for applicants to take the in-person computerized exam. All contents of the DCE workshops and exam are jointly developed by Lehman College’s Instructional Support Services Program (ISSP) and the Department of Nursing.

  • Exam Passing Score: All students must achieve a score of 95% or higher to advance in the admission process. Students are granted two opportunities to pass the exam. Failure to achieve the required score on the dosage calculation exam will result in denial to the program.

Applicants who scored below the requirement on the Dosage Calculation Examination are eligible to apply to the generic nursing program for the following year during the in-take period, January 2 to March 15.
